Originally this design is a hand drawn traditional pen & ink drawing from a 14x17in humble sketch pad (now) exported on to a variety of mediums "SHIRTS, LEGGING, MUGS! CELLPHONE cases & more!

This particular sketch is a personal favorite of mine for a variety of reason but my top 3 would have to be the welcoming jolly yet ominous pressure of the central figure appearance- I tried my best to present a truly inverted yet parallel representation of Santa.

the Golden Bell embellishment- which to me exudes a bright hopeful (or perhaps false hope) beacon. something about it to me feels juxtapose to the figure wearing it (perhaps the Gold bell true purpose functions analogously to the florescent light of a angler fish?) a deceptive trap?

the crosshatching shading style for the tentacle beard. (hand/wrist cramps). Originally I was planning to go along with a "stippling" style to convey thick densely entangle beard however ULTIMATLEY crosshatching was the appropriate choice- not to mention the hatch style gives him a old-timer-folksy story time vibe as if this figure could have been naturally found in such ancient paganized books of old.

illustrators note: that symbol on the clothes of his hat is known as the "Leviathans Cross."

among other reasons this particular drawing was satisfying to make & (I may make other alterations to the sketch in the future).
